Comment Bank Online Is Now Report Writer Online
Due to all the new functions added to Comment Bank Online, I have decided to change its name to Report Writer Online. This reflects the additional functionality which now allows the user to not only store comments and construct statements, but also to design and print reports directly from this site. Even with all this extra. This is still a FREE SERVICE.

Comment Bank Online
I am in the process of adding more functions to Comment Bank Online. You can now save your statements along with the pupil's name, group and year. There is also a facility to download this saved data to an Excel file along with upto 10 extra columns of associated data. A new facility that is currently under development is the ability to design your own custom report template online, and print off your reports directly from this website. Register now to try it out , or if you have registered and are currently logged on create a few statements and visit the REPORT DESIGN page accessible from the menu on the right of the page to see what can be done. This is a FREE SERVICE.

IMPORTANT
I have been informed by the company that hosts my site that they have lost all my data. What this means is that if you are registered to use the Online Services most of you will have to re-register, also any data you have uploaded is also lost. Fortunately I have a number of users emails on my local PC and so was able to recreate some accounts but with alternate usernames and passwords. To reclaim your account try typing your email into the 'Forgot Password' box on the left and the details will be sent to you. You can then change these in the normal way. For a very few users who sent me data such as links or comments for their comment banks directly as a file rather than uploading via the site. I retained these files and so was able to transfer this data to the database again so you will not have to retype or upload it again.

I appologise for this disaster which was totally out of my control and hope that it will not stop you using these services.

Resources Database - I have completed the resources database where teachers can visit and download various resources or upload theirs. The database also stores links to useful resource websites. I've included a few already. Why don't you add a few of your own and see how the database grows. Because I do not have unlimited webspace I have had to limit upload size to 70mb for the time being. But this should be sufficient for your average file.

Changes to Pupil Tester - I am looking into the feasibility of making the software free, and charging to download questions from a question bank on this website (prices as yet undecided). It would not be practical for me to write these questions myself, particularly in subjects outside my field, so I am testing the idea of allowing users of the software to submit questions they have written to this website and paying them a sum each time their question is downloaded. The benefits of this are;
  • The software will be free.
  • You can choose to write your own questions ensuring that it remains free.
  • If money is no object :) you have the flexibility of being able to purchase questions written by other teachers to save valuable time.
  • You can submit your questions to the question bank and get paid for them.

As a result of these changes and the additional programming I will have to carry out, particularly in relation to the website, the release of Pupil Tester will be delayed until further notice.

Keep checking this page for further announcements .

Pupil Tester - This application is due to be completed by September 2005. It is a multiuser application written in Visual Basic with a Microsoft Access backend database.It will allow teachers to write tests for their subjects and allow their students to sit the tests electronically over the school network. Results are displayed immediately and also stored on the database for the production of individual and class reports.

Results Organiser - This application is still in its infancy. I have completed a very basic version in Access but have not yet decided which platform to complete its development on. I don't think I will have a trial version ready until sometime in 2006.
